Hi all.......
well it happened. My T said i needed to go to another agency because I wasn't getting better with him. See, I am going to have a gastric bypass hopefully at the end of summer. I have to be in optimal health mentally for this surgery. I need to not dissociate so much and stuff like that. So the bariatric therapist knew of a place for me to go to. I went for my assessment last week and saw the new T yesterday. I hate the location and building. my other T's office and waiting room were awesome! this one sucks! but I think that the new T is nice and he is pretty funny.
now the goal is that I have the surgery, work on being present more in my body, eating right before and after surgery, taking care of myself like showering and other self care stuff on a more regular basis, taking my meds regularly and things like that. then after i have been successful with my surgery and am stable emotionally, I can go back to my other T. So i am hoping by October sometime to go back.
But today was my last session with T (R) and it really was hard. I cried a lot. but I did much better than i thought I would. I stayed present but i had trouble breathing and stuff when i left. I did go to the ice cream shop to get a small ice cream cone to feel better and it worked! I know......not a good idea when you are facing gastric bypass surgery! I have to stop looking for comfort foods. but today I gave in. the stress was so huge on me and i needed to be calm to drive home.
so Now I have 2 therapists now still working with me. one is a female (J) and one is a male (G). I hope that both of them can help me get through my surgery successfully.
thank you for reading this!
Roo......

Hey Roo, it sounds like you've got a good support system together for your surgery. I can imagine it's tough dealing with both the surgery and the temporary break from your normal therapy at the same time. Take it easy - breathing exercises and meditation may help with your chest pains.
When things aren't working I guess change in some manner is required. This will no doubt be some kind of turning point for you RDB, and you will come out a healthier person all round for it. Also surgery is forcing you to take better care of yourself. Keep in mind what a great exercise this is for you and whether you could treat yourself like that all the time.
