Hi,

I am new here, but was diagnosed 15 years ago. I have been managing my BPD successfully for about the last 8 years, but some recent relationship things caused kind of an unexpected relapse into some old behaviors and old ways of thinking. I'm pretty surprised, and feeling sort of like no matter how far I come, I may always have these things laying latent somewhere inside me.

I don't really have friends who understand, and while I do have a councilor (who I really like an connect with) she doesn't like BPD as a diagnosis (not just for me, but for anyone) and sometimes I feel like I want to discuss the specifics of the challenges I am facing with people who understand.

About me, I'm 31, a student and I work full time. I live in northern Canada and I take a lot of pictures and read a lot of books. My current favorite TV show is Glee, I love music and animals and I shop a lot.

Oh, and I'm excited to have found this site, I like what I have read so far.

That's me!

KT

Glad to have you here, KT! I hear you about relationships throwing you for a loop-- happens to me too. The good news is that even though you may feel like you are re-lapsing a bit, just by the fact that you have already been doing well for so long-- it comes back so quickly! Check out our Tools section on the left side of your screen when you can. These Tools make all the difference for me on my bad days or really just anytime I need to work something out.

This is a great place to discuss these things with people who can relate to what you are going through. I hope you will feel comfortable and post whenever you need us or feel you could help someone else. The fab people here at BPDR can be a great sounding board to help you find the next step and find a way forward.

Oh, and I'm a HUGE Glee fan too!

I'm currently navigating my way through a relapse too. I agree with what Harmonium said, it is easier to re-find your way when you've been well for a long time. A wise person once told me that we learn something with every relapse. You are still progressing, even if it doesn't feel that way.

Thanks Harmonim and Lirael,

I agree, a relapse, especially because I know it for what it is and I'm pretty honest with myself, is easier to navigate out of than my journey when I was first diagnosed. I know myself, and I know my tricks. :eyeroll

I think I feel disappointed because of my inability to manage the situation, but it wasn't really a great situation to begin with. I'll probably talk more about it later, once I get more comfortable.

Thank you both for the welcome, I appreciate it!

Hey KT, great name & fantastic pic! I LOVE his royal Dylan-ness, everytime I hear one of his songs I have to put on an entire album of his.

Aw, I hope you're ok. I can't offer advice, being a total newbie to all of this. But I'm here for support & Bob Dylan appreciation :)
