Hi Everyone,

Great to be here!

I left home when I was 13, my mother had full blown BPD and I learned a lot of her behaviours (most of them). During major depressive episodes over the years my symptoms have been quite severe. I also had quite severe PTSD...

I've slowly learned to be alone, and am starting to gain independence. I'm learning to sleep, and after two years of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy with Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, I'm in remission from BPD Traits, PTSD (Axis 1), Nightmare Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder. I hope you don't feel that I understand the illness any less for not having the full blown disorder.... I was on BPD forums for about a year too... But, I've always been optimistic about recovery... I honestly feel that having experienced it yourselves, my ways of dealing with stress and the stupid social situations I've been in, will be quite entertaining and hopefully endearing.

Came off all of my meds over the last year, and am med free as of three weeks ago! Yay for me!

Excited about becoming a part of this forum. The tools here are great, and aren't so dissimilar from what I've been doing in therapy over the years.

Cheers to full recovery!

:welcome

I've never had full-blown BPD, just traits coupled with other MH problems, and I've always been made to feel very welcome here. It doesn't matter what your dx is... willingness to work on recovery is far more important. :)

Looking forward to getting to know you!

Welcome!
I'm glad that you found this community. I am pretty new here too & have found it to be wonderfully supportive. I agree with echoeslikehorses, that many of us here actually come with different diagnoses/histories, some are partners of those with bpd. I myself, have many complex trauma issues and find this site to be helpful for me as many here have experiences and wisdom that I can learn from. I find that I actually learn and read far more than I post. I also have found the tools offered here on this site to be excellent & it sounds that they're similar to what you've worked with in the past. I look forward to getting to know you.
And Congrats on your 3 weeks of being med free!

Thank you Amharra! Feels good to be med free! I also have trauma issues to deal with... perhaps we can chat about it sometime in more private forums :)

Great to meet you both! The tools on this site have been great so far :)

Hey! I'm new here, and I am also very optimistic about recovery! BPD, or similiar conditions, are no way for us to spend our lives and are very unfair to the people we love. If you ever want to talk I'd love to hear from you! This website has me really pumped! Just being able to know the problem has been such a relief, as before, to "fix" myself, I didn't even know where to start...
